My Story

Sandra Soldo Ackovic

I was raised in Mostar, town in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the mid 90's during civil war and destruction of Bosnia, me and my family left Europe.
Since 1995 Atlanta Georgia is my home, and I like to call myself a southern artist.
I was born with the talent, my creativity recognized since elementary school. I always felt this is my calling in life, instrument to nourish my soul ,without it something would be missing. Painting became my vent, self healing tool in discovering, and shaping me not only as an artist but also as a person. 
Creativity, and artistic abilities helped me build my careers in teaching Early Childhood
Education, and Dental Technology industry where I worked for over 16 years.
I have also worked for years closely in commercial art placements and art commissions

with leading interior art group in Atlanta.
I am self taught artist. Over the years my mediums included  stained glass creations, 3D Powertex sculpturing,
cold wax , oil and acrylic paints. Influenced by impressionistic brush strokes, freedom of abstract expressionist mind, simplicity and spiritualism of tribal patterns my art evolved into different paintings and collections of never ending source of inspiration. My techniques are different yet I believe true to myself.

 
Beside painting in my open studios in Asheville NC. and Suwanee GA, I believe that support and
involvement in my local community with other artist can only bring more awareness to younger,
and general population appreciating and understanding original art.
One should never stop exploring and learning. In every piece I create I learn something new. I am
actually more captured by the process of creating art ,building layers until painting speaks for itself.
 Acrylic, fluid paint,oil paint,oil crayons,
sculptural 3D mixed media, spray paint, stenciling....they all have special place, and use in my art.
It is truly never ending process...
